Then & Now

One of the boys from Djezna's Stalker posted a video on our band page
this is our site, btw.
like it!!

Here is the video (oh these guys are not us!! just click and you'll see)

Funny how I looked so diiferent (young~) back in 2009.
There is a short interview and performance in the video.
Just search, it is somewhere in there. Don't be lazy.
I sound funny though.

Looking back makes me feel that it was just yesterday. How far we went from being a small little band to what we are now.
Yup our very own music video. Uninspired.
Check it out for those who missed it.

If you like the song. Click here for the free download.

Currently, we are recording our Malay single. We will have a music video to go with it too.
Do stay tuned for more updates here or through our page.

ARGHHH

posted by tkl

i have never been so frustrated speaking on the phone before..

obviously the staff at S** are very incompetent and are incapable of communicating like a decent human being. I have no idea how they can even do sales..

they kept transferring me upstairs, downstairs, to the sales office, to the office...and I had to explain myself again and again and again. plus they couldn't speak English, either ONLY malay or ONLY chinese.

S** is actually a furniture shop. They also sell trunks as furniture. For those of you who don't know what a trunk is:

It was pretty evident they didn't know what a trunk was...

me: I want to know how much your trunks are
staff: apa tu? (What's that?)
me: Something like a big bag.
staff: kami tak ada (We don't have that)
me: I know you don't have bags. I said it looks like a bag. But you use it as a table.
staff: Ya kami ada table (Yes, we have tables)
me: I don't want a table. I want a trunk.
staff: Saya tak tahu apa you cakap la.
me: Macam beg besar untuk travel (Like a big bag for travelling) tapi you guna macam meja (but you use it     as a table)
staff: Ya, kedai kami dekat travel shop (Yes, our shop is near a travel shop)
me: @.@ (thinking: kill me now)

They transferred me to another Malay girl

me: I'm looking for a trunk, but it can be used like a table:
staff 2: oh, meja ya. (oh, table ya)
me: Yes.
staff 2: oh. meja ya.
me: ........ yes.
staff 2: cari meja ya.
me: -_- YES.

I seriously wanted to kill someone.

In the end I got the delivery order from their shop. It was stated as 'storage box' so I called them again. This time it was a Chinese girl

me: I want to check how much your storage box is.
staff: we don't have box.
me: we bought it from your shop before, you have it.
staff: What's that?
me: Storage box. It's like a table.
staff: How to say?
me: STORAGE BOX (very slowly)
staff: HAR? stolen box????
me: -.-"

I got really fed up.

me: Can I just send you an email with a picture of it, and then can you give me a quote?I'll give you the product code number also in the e-mail.
staff : Wait ar. (transfers me to someone else)
me: -_-
staff B: meh si? ('What's the matter?' in Cantonese)
me: I want your email address.
staff B: oh ok. Tang ah ('Wait ah) (Puts me on hold)
me: -_-" (thinking: they don't even know their shop's email address???)
staff C: Apa hal (What's the matter?)
me: I want to get your email address.
Staff C: ohhh.Email address:
me: Yes. Email address
Staff C: OK. w-w-w-dot-
me: -_-"""" that's website address not email address
staff C: Oh. Nanti saya call you balik (I will call you back)
me: -_-""""""""""""""""""""" OK.

Called another branch up, they wouldn't give me the quote. WTH??? do they not want business? Seriously!!

Called another branch with code number ready. The code number of the box has this pattern on it:

me: I want to buy your storage box .Code number *********
staff: Oh we don't have stock.
me: OK. Where got?
staff: the other side
me: -.- where's the other side?
staff: er...I dont know how to say
me: another branch?
staff: No. Here don't have. Other side got.
me: What is other side?? I don't know what you are talking about. Factory? Office??
staff: No.
me: -_- Anyway can you tell me what colors and designs you have?
staff: Oh got 2 designs.
me: OK.
staff: One is US flag.
me: You mean UK. Anyway ok. what else?
staff: another one is yellow and red line.
me: OK. (thinking: yellow and red stripes. ok.)
staff: Then up there got stars.
me: OK. (Thinking: up there must mean the top). What color are the stars?
staff: White. and got blue.
me: So white and blue stars?
staff: No. White. and then got blue.
me: -.- OK.

i give up.

live music week

posted by tkl

Hi,

It feels like i'm kinda getting my old life back.sometimes it seems slow but sometimes it seems sudden.

this has been a week of live music!on Mon, I went to see some friends jam at a studio, basically i went to kaypoh la, they didn't even have a triangle for me to play..sigh..hahahaha..1 of the guys, kam, is an upcoming talented song writer, plus he can play quite a few musical instruments too! What kinda songs does he write? Well, better to listen for urself! This is the link to a video of a musical that contains songs he wrote!

The Moment After

yes, the keh leh feh (for u non Malaysian/Chinese ppl reading this, kehlehfeh means 'extra') in the black shirt IS me.

On Wednesday, after some scrambling, (Sorry my lovely students!-I had to change class days/times to make this but they were sooooo accommodating..) I managed to attend Isaac Entry 's show at the MPO. No regrets! It felt very short though! Also went to see him last night at Nerofico but I've to say I prefer him accoustic with Zarul / with MPO. Couldn't take a video of his show at MPO but here's a video of him:

I've been giving away his CD as presents to friends from overseas, I think they like him! Yay, a Malaysian making us proud!

Another Malaysian making us proud is Zee Avi! She is soooooooo cute! I was abit reluctant to go to her concert because if you know me, I'm always broke!Don't ask me how, I just always am somehow >.< but jk won free tickets n gave me 1!Yay!!Awesome bday present jk!Thanks very very much! She's very lovely live, the songs sound different from the album. The last time I went I didn't really enjoy myself because I was grumpy that it started late and I was stuck in the middle of the crowd with a friend and the crowd was annoying. Plus someone stole my hp. This time I was prepared. Anyway, for u guys overseas who don't know Zee Avi..

dear wjx, i know u r thinking 'Zee doesn't need more publicity'! I want to publicize Djezna Stalker~~ Have more gigs~~

Look alike?

posted by tkl

Adam Carruthers tweeted this pic and said that wjx 'the new intern' looks like Rain. Haha, I don't think he particularly looks Rain in this photo but....

maybe in this old photo he does.must be the hair and sunglasses. Haha..

wjx is going to kill me for doing this but some ppl have also told him he looks like Nicholas Teo (Zhang Dong Liang). If you don't know who he is, I was in the same boat as you hahahaa. He doesn't like being compared to him I think because he doesn't like his music.

What do you think? Do they look alike?

Have you ever been told you look like some celebrity?

You can also download the song for free through this website!

back to life?

posted by tkl

for those of you who know about it and gave your condolences/sent flowers/came to the funeral, thank you.

honestly, it's been exhausting.when i think back, i don't think it was physically that bad but i guess emotionally it was a huge toll so it had physical effects.

there are so many things i wish.that i had spent more time with her, that i could have asked her more about her life before i was lucky enough to get to know her, places i wish i had been able to show her.too many things.wherever she is now, i hope she's at peace, well and happy and free from suffering.

it's amazing how ur 'normal life' just completely goes on hiatus when death is around.the minutes blur into hours into days and suddenly it's almost a week.i lost all sense of time, it didn't even matter what day it was anymore.it's also amazing how everyone gets together during funerals.weddings and funerals, that's when you see a lot of ppl.but i think more ppl turn up during funerals.

wjx, help me fold more prayer paper =p thanks!haha

anyway, thanks everybody.

October

posted by tkl

October has been a hectic month.I thought after September I'd feel a bit more rested. Have more time for myself. But no.I'm not only exhausted but I am also broke. What with weddings, birthdays, having to cancel classes meaning no extra pay from my part time job...

But my cousin's wedding was beautiful. She put a lot of effort into planning it and it's wonderful how her family n her now husband helped each other. They were fully committed into making it a success. And I got a peek into how weddings are planned and I have to say that it is soooooo much work!!it's scary!!

of course, u could just sit back and let a wedding planner handle everything, but u end up with a very expensive fee and may just end up with tacky decor n by then u can't bridezilla ur way into putting things right anymore coz it could b too late.

anyway, i was 1 of 5 bridesmaids during the wedding. one of the funny things that happened during the wedding (yes, there was more than 1 funny thing that happened) was that 1 of the guests, my high school mate was very very star struck by one of the other bridesmaids, Deanna Yusof. He took a pic with her n tweeted that pic TWICE. Once saying 'by the way i'm married' HAHAHA...he's even using that pic as his fb profile pic now! oh well, she's a celebrity i guess she's used to that sort of thing.

I really want to post up a pic of my absolutely gorgeous cousin in her absolutely stunning gown...wonder if she'll mind?

anyway one of my favorite parts of the wedding was of course torturing the guys.

here, we're collecting kisses. i asked my cousin's husband to guess which kiss was my cousin's. if he got it wrong, one of his brothers had to eat wasabi, drink tobasco sauce or drink soy sauce. hahahaha...

This was the 2nd torture:
my cousin had to learn how to put on a baby's cloth diaper...this was hilarious hahahhaa
n finally we put some keys in a bucket of ice, they had to fish get the right one out.we froze one key in a big block of ice as a decoy n they went out to smash it n got really frustrated after finding out it was still the wrong one hahahahha

anyway, i really think my cousin n her husband are great together. it just seems so easy n comfortable for them to be with each other.the wedding was really fun too.i only wish that i could have been as glam looking as the other bridesmaids hahahaha..

before i go to bed, wjx's band is playing at the Bee Jaya one this Thurs night!info is here. Go show them some love. They're giving freebies away!also, if u dress up, u could win some prizes!wish i could go but i've got short and sweet~~ anyone going?wish me luck >.<

How long would you wait?

posted by tkl

In Japanese class the other day we were asked this question. How long would you wait for these people, and how long would you let them wait for you?

1. your teacher

2. your family

3. your friends

4. your boyfriend/girlfriend

Take a minute and think about it.

From the answers you could really tell about people. One person said she would wait 30 minutes for every person, regardless of which group they were in. One said they would wait for their friends longer than their boyfriend. A young guy, in his teens said he would wait for his girlfriend forever. Did you just go awwwwww....????Coz i sure did!!i kind of went awwww but i kinda also thought 'let's see if u still think the same way 20 years later!' Am I jaded or what??I feel kinda sad that i think this way..although i don't think i was ever as romantic as that guy..our teacher said she could wait 1-2 hours for her friends and boyfriend! I can't imagine waiting that long really and not being pissed but i can imagine her being like this. She's sooooo patient.

But once wjx waited 1 whole hour for me.i won't forget that.i'm so so sorry i made u wait that long!n thanks so much for not complaining or whining or getting angry..

but i hope u don't expect me to wait around for u...hahahaha just joking!

short and sweet theatre 2011

i remember the first time i auditioned for short and sweet theatre. i was really nervous. to the point i was shaking. why did i do it? i'd a lot of time on my hands, was bored, wanted to challenge myself, break out of the rut i felt i was in and so on.

Why did i join again this year? I felt like i had more to give than i did last year, n i wanted to try a different role, a different script. and to have more fun.

So here I am again:
Short and sweet theatre week 2: Malaysia's First Catholic Hippo! And for those of you who are wondering, NO, I'm not acting as the hippo. Or am I? Haha, I guess the only way for you to find out is to come and see~ I've had fun during rehearsals so far, educating Lolo about childhood stuff (the guy doesn't know about teenage mutant ninja turtles, has never eaten gummy bears etc etc the list is so long I fear he will never recover his childhood LOL)

making eggs light up (thanks to the science teacher John)

Ivan's good at playing the guitar. We also talk about music, about theatre, make jokes, laugh, make fun of each other, add strange lines to the script during rehearsals..It's been really fun hanging out and I hope we continue to hang out=D Thanks for writing the script Terence and also helping us observe rehearsals! It's fun having u around :) Keep on writing, I hope to see more of your stuff, and maybe if I'm lucky enough, to be involved as well haha..

Terence will be acting in s+s theatre week 1, in a play directed by John!Break a leg~

Free Flow

I was in Cameron Highlands with 3 of my production crew for a documentary shooting. We celebrated the first night in the hotel room like this.

And we went out for more.
Came back to the room for beer poker.
Damn, I had the sweetest dream.
Zzzz.

If you could stop time...

According to my Japanese textbook, Seiko did a survey in 2004 where they asked 516 20-year olds about time. They asked them 'What moments in time do you want to stop?'.

There were 2 types of directions the answers took. One was positive, where the respondents wanted to prolong their 'I'm so happy and hangfook (pardon my Chinese side but I feel that hangfook expresses this more accurately than happy somehow)'. The other was negative where they wanted to stop time where it seems like they're going to fail at something and they wanted to stop time for everyone else except for themselves so they can figure their shit out.

Alot of those who gave the former happy answers were women and alot who gave the 'unhappy' answers were men, so maybe men have a tendency to be pessimistic?

I tried to reproduce the graph, it's below. It's in no way accurate and it's been ages, if I have ever made a graph using Word. Strange but I don't remember having ever made a graph using Word...how did I get out of doing that ever studying commerce???or mayb i've forgotten...

Before reading the article, my teacher asked us the question and my answer was 'when I'm sleeping and when I'm on a date'. Come to think of it, I also would like the weekend to last longer, they seem to pass by in a flash @.@...How about you guys? When would you like to stop time?

new art

lately i've been having this obsession with block letters...

See what I mean??I love the way katakana looks in block by the way...although i have to say some characters look way better than others...I love the way 'ki' looks like a lightning bolt *~

Even wjx couldn't escape fr my block obsession and his arm became my 'canvas' hahaha...by the way i blame the ugliness of the characters on him squirming, struggling to get away hahahaha and also coz his skin so soft hard to draw la hahaha

These are the lovely Medina & le princess Phua holding up my ugly drawing and making it look better by just being in their presence.hahahaha..

You may wonder. Why the word moment? Because of 'The Moment After'! Thanks you guys who came to watch~~It was really fun working with the cast, musicians and of course 'God' and Kam (nice semi-god, hahaha)...unfortunately a moment is just a moment and moments always end! at least i still have the pictures~

tired

posted by tkl

I'm tired!!!exhausted.need a holiday.

Unfortunately, I don't have the pic of wjx and kapybara with me now or i'd post it up but no matter, the moment i get home i'll do it!

if he doesn't beat me to posting something that is..he has plenty of time considering from work i have to go straight to dress rehearsal..

sigh yesterday nearly saw me have a melt down.i'm currently helping out A to Z do their schedule, n one student was being VERY difficult with his class time. He has caused so many problems before! He not only wants ONLY FEMALE teachers, he sometimes makes unnecessary comments about the staff's looks. This makes the teachers feel uncomfortable and his classes are always in the BIGGEST classroom so that the teachers can stand as far away as possible from him. Not only that but it seems he presents a different persona to teachers. In front of one, he has a very exciting nightlife, he even had a mistress in China or so he claims. In front of me he claims to go home straight after work every night to spend time with his children.Right.

And I thought I was free from all the freaks in Japan.Guess not. Thank goodness I have classes from requested students almost every night (they request me la not the other way round) so I have a good excuse not to teach him..

want a holiday~~ can someone plan for me and i just go along?no time to plan and can't be bothered with details.apa sajalah as long as not too expensive.broke la.dont ask me why im always broke.money just seems to disappear.

by the way wjx will be performing with cik Su and william at look out point, (click here) where the view is georgeous~~ Thurs night.good luck!!

kapybara

It's time to threaten wjx again!

I've decided to introduce kapybara in this post~

Isn't he cute?????So adorable right???He likes to wear hats. And he likes to turn upside down just like my dog, so that I can scratch his tummy ;p

Now you may wonder, as I did, what ka-pi-ba-ra means. I first found out about kapibara in Japan, and it was too too cute so I got my friend to win kapybara for me from one of those game machines in the archade. Thank you jon jon~
Anyway, i recently searched kapibara, expecting to find out kapibara was some strange as$ short form thingy in Japanese for something, but I was wrong!

Behold a real kapybara:

Not quite as cute huh? Apparently it's a rodent..

Anyway, if wjx doesn't post something up, look forward to seeing a picture/pictures of him hanging out with kapybara.Hahahahaha~

bits and pieces of everything

posted by tkl

there are a few things i wanna say....

1. They always say how we're a multi-racial community that lives in peace despite our different religions n blahblahblah..I seriously wonder whether that's true especially since Jais raided a church. In Sri Lanka, they are now living harmoniously and trying to build the country. I really believe that had they not had sooo many wars, they'd be richer than us. I feel like we are going backwards and erasing all the good and peace and harmony our former leaders created for us. Caring about all these petty differences is just going to slow down our development. We should be a bit more like Sri Lanka. Mosques next to churches, temples opposite mosques etc etc. They realise that it's not worth fighting over things like that..

2. photo for Mae who requested for more photos of Sri Lanka:

3. i shaved someone's head last night for the first time!or rather, i butchered his hair @.@ i'm sorry Iman!! he doesn't read this blog hahaha...Director made me do it!!you can see what happened in the trailer that will be coming out soon..

4. wjx's band was in MYC's Sept issue. Can you see them? Just coincidence they're in the issue about metrosexual guys btw.

5. i miss my granma.Going to chant sutta for her. I hope she isn't suffering and that she's not in pain.

ok i dah malas dah.n already forgot what other random shit i wanted to say.that's it for now!see yaaaaa~

wjx, your turn!!!post something!

last blog post on the Sri Lanka trip

One of the most peaceful memories I have of Sri Lanka is when I went to visit a stupa called Ruwanwelisaya. The tour guide said that it was built by a king after he managed to chase invaders out of Sri Lanka and unite the kingdom. In the process he had to kill many people and felt sad because of that so he had this stupa built.

Usually, people help construct stupas for free to gain merit for themselves but the king paid for the construction of the stupa, paid the workers' a salary, fed them and clothed them to gain all the merit for himself. According to the guide anyway.

It's a very beautiful stupa. My photo doesn't do it justice.

We walked around the stupa following the monk. Each of us held a lotus flower and we chanted. It was soooo quiet and peaceful. There was a lovely breeze and there were tiny birds flying around the stupa. I always believe that animals like peaceful places and they try to avoid places where there is strife or chaos. Our shadows moved along the walls with us. We prayed for peace and harmony and this was one of the rare times when I felt at peace. I'm not a religious person, but I like this feeling of being at peace.

In Sri Lanka we also went to a Buddhist Cultural Centre. We talked to the chief monk there and someone asked him about the percentage of Buddhists in Colombo. He said only 20% were Buddhists now. There are more Muslims. Someone asked him why and he said "Well, many Muslims are moving there. Also, Muslims are allowed to marry 4 wives and have many children. Monks don't have children and Buddhist lay people only 1 or 2 children." I found this kind of funny, hahaha...Reproduction is one of the reasons for a decline in Buddhism!Anyway, the centre was great, lots of Buddhist books where u can go to find out about the history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka or about Buddhism in general. And the view from the rooftop is great:

I kinda miss Sri Lanka.
